The business is expected to be profit making in the year ending January 2025 and the team at the East of England co-op will continue to deliver the transformation programme that will deliver sustainable profitable growth. 

Long-term Strategy

Building their fanbase - In 2023 the East of England Co-op welcomed 14,010 new members. Many of these sign-ups were driven by online advertising campaigns, complimented by in-store activity. 

Improving the daily lives of colleagues - In 2023 they introduced colleague events such as the ‘Year beginning meeting’ and  have worked hard to ensure they remain an employer of choice in the region.

Championing local - Supporting the community is at the heart of what the co-operative does. The Community Cares Fund enables them to support a variety if amazing projects and organisations. Their latest round of funding was awarded in November 2023, and they've been able to support 54 charities and community groups with a reach of more than 95,000 people.

Growing and evolving the business - The East of England co-op have ambitious growth plans. To achieve this they will:

  • Invest and reshape their retail estate, with a focus on being the best convenience stores within the region.
  • Continuing investment within funeral services.
  • Ensuring they are an efficient, well run and progressive business with the right culture that will deliver business success.
  • Proactively manage, redeploy capital and develop a resilient property portfolio that provide essential services and supports the development of thriving communities across the East of England.
